DSEA Winnebago Tour

          The DSEA Winnebago is coming to Cape on Monday, September 24.  The schedule is as follows:

·   H.O.Brittingham    6:45 to 7:30

·   Mariner Middle      7:45 to 8:20

·   Rehoboth              10:45 to 12:30

·   9th Grade Campus 2:30 to 3:45

·   Shields                  2:30 to 3:45

The Winnebago will be parked in the parking lot except for the 9th Grade Campus and Shields.  For the 9th Grade Campus and Shields the Winnebago will be parked on the grass between the 2 buildings.

Stop by to meet some of the DSEA Officers and Staff, receive information about Member Benefits, receive goodies and enjoy some food.

In the morning we will have juice, bagels and breakfast bars, midday we will be providing drinks, sandwiches and cookies and after school we will have snacks, drinks and cookies.

 

SOCIAL

          The DSEA Winnebago will make its final stop at La Rosa Negra on Savannah Road in Lewes from 4 to 6 pm.  Chances will be available for prizes.  Your $5 donation will benefit the Scholarship Fund.

 

NEGOTIATIONS INPUT FORMS

          Be sure to take the time to complete the Negotiations Input Form that you received in the first Wavelengths.  If you need a new form you can go to www.capehenlopenea.org/  and download a new form.  Send your form to George Pepper at Shields.

 

MEMBERSHIP UPDATE

          CHEA must update their Membership Roster every year.  Be sure to complete the Membership Roster Update Form and send it to Amanda Jester at Cape Henlopen High School.  Mary Richmond has stepped down as Membership Chair.  She will forward any forms to CHEA.  If you need a new form go to www.capehenlopenea.org/ and download a new form.

 

NEA-DUES TAB

          All CHEA/DSEA/NEA active members are entitled to a free life insurance plan.  To make sure that you completed the proper paperwork to be eligible or to update your beneficiaries contact NEA Members Benefits at www.neamb.com/insurance or call 1-800-637-4636 and ask about DUES-TAB.  Be sure that your family is aware of this benefit.

 

DSEA CONFERENCES

·   It is not too late to participate in the DSEA Leaders’ Weekend at the Sheraton in Dover on October 5, 6, 7.  The topic is: Crucial Conversations: Shaping the Future of Public Education in Delaware.  It is too late to reserve a room at a group rate.  But you can commute for a cost of $45.  Once the conference is over, CHEA will reimburse you the $45.  Contact Debbie Weaver at DSEA.  Debbie.Weaver@dsea.org

·   DSEA, in an effort to educate and expand the conversation about teacher pay, is co-sponsoring a Teacher: Compensation, Career Paths and Collective Bargaining Conference on November 9 at the Schwartz Center for the Arts in Dover and November 10 at the Del Tech & Community Center in Dover.  For more information contact DSEA at 1-866-734-5834 and ask about the Nov. 9 and 10 Teacher Compensation Conference.

  • Defensive Driving Courses: Basic Defensive Driving on November 27 and 28 from 5:30 to 8:30 and
    Advanced Defensive Driving on December 4 from 5:30 to 8:30.  Both courses will be held at Milton Elementary School in the Auditorium.  The cost for the Basic Course is $12 and the cost for the Advanced Course is $12.  You must mail the registration form with the fee to DSEA.  Save on your car insurance.
